Bisbee az gay pride

HOST HOTEL

Bisbee Pride began in 2004 by a petite group of LGBT friends. From a compact local Pride Celebration Bisbee Pride has grown into a year-round community service focused non-profit group. We enjoy robust support from the local community. In fact, Bisbee was the first municipality in Arizona to pass a Civil Union Ordinance before Marriage Equality became law.

Bisbee Self-acceptance, Inc. is a 501c (3) ngo organization committed to the goals of wellness, education, human rights and acceptance within the LGBTQ and greater Cochise County Community.

Bisbee Pride

WHO: Bisbee Pride
WHEN: June 17-19, 2022
WHERE: Historic Bisbee, Bisbee, Arizona 85603

In 2004, a small community of LGBT friends began Bisbee Pride. From a small, local Pride Celebration, Bisbee Pride has grown into a 501(c)3, charity organization. One of the highlights is the annual Bisbee Identity Festival. Unlike other Pride events, Bisbee Pride is a community-wide event that takes place during Father’s Day weekend. This year, the 18th Annual Bisbee Self-acceptance will be held June 17th, 18th, & 19th. The theme is “Return to Bisbee Pride: Express Yourself!”. Events begin on Friday, June 17th with one-of-a-kind public and private events, shows and a street dance in the evening. Saturday, June 18th, we have a Parade which winds through Historic Old Bisbee to kick off the evening. It is followed by an open-air festival with vendors and entertainment that runs throughout the day culminating with our main stage event. Sunday, June 19th consists of Drag Bingo hosted by the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence that that wraps up an exciting and fun-filled weekend.

Every year on Father’s Day weekend, the Arizona LGBT collective and Straight Allies gather in the adorable little town of Bisbee to celebrate their movement. Come along with me on one such adventure, and be sure to catch the next incarnation of Bisbee Gay Pride!

When and Where is Bisbee Gay Pride?

Get to Bisbee by driving South on I-10 and taking a right on Thoroughfare 80 in Benson. From Tucson, it’s a little over 1.5 hours, 47 if you’re coming from Benson. Same-sex attracted Pride Weekend corresponds with Father’s Daytime Weekend, occurring on the third weekend in June. It may seem enjoy a long way to go, but a bunch of your friends from Tucson will be there and it really is one of the improved parties of the year!

What Can I Expect at Bisbee Gay Pride?

There are so many things to do and ways to honor in Bisbee and the surrounding area, but what follows is my tried-and-true method for having a great period at Bisbee Same-sex attracted Pride.  We dial this The Move.

The Move starts at a quaint petite bed and breakfast on Friday evening. Try the Copper Queen Hotel or the Bisbee Grand, you’ll love either place.  I highly encourage locating yourself around the Main St. part of town. That

Nowhere We’d Rather Bisbee

Bisbee Pride

Bisbee was once a bustling mining town back in 1877, tucked into the Mule Mountains of Southern Arizona, only 27 miles from the US-Mexico border. Today, it’s a quirky art town thriving on gay pride with a population of only 5,192.

In 2013, Bisbee passed a city ordinance legalizing civil unions, the first in the state, prior to Marriage Equality becoming law—despite push-back on the fresh ordinance from Arizona express officials.

Bisbee has been hosting Pride for the past 15 years. What began in 2004 as a small group of Queer friends celebrating pride has evolved into a three-day weekend celebration, attracting queers from Tucson, Phoenix, and even Mexico, and completely booking historic hotels, inns, and Airbnbs.

Mid-June brings warmer temps to Bisbee, but a cool breeze from the mountains blows in hundreds of gays for the weekend-long festival. We couldn’t wait for the fun to begin.

Bisbee Movement began on Friday, with Hot Ass Happy Hour at the Screaming Banshee, a local favorite for wood-fired pizzas and stellar drinks. Knotty But Friendly garlic knots, honey-chipotle wings, and the Screaming Banshee pizza, with fen
